Ukrainian consul visits Strasbourg

On Friday 13 May, the OFII’s territorial directorate in Strasbourg was involved in a diplomatic visit to the prefecture of the Grand Est region and the prefecture of the Bas-Rhin, by the Ukrainian Consul Serhii Esaulov and Mr Yurii Kaviuk, 1st Secretary of the Ukrainian permanent representation to the Council of Europe.

This exchange was an opportunity to detail the organisation set up for the reception of Ukrainians in Strasbourg. Everything is combined in a single location in the city including the services from the Prefecture, the Regional Health Agency (ARS), and the Foyer Notre Dame association, all involved during the first briefing before the appointment schedule at the Prefecture, the temporary residence permit issuance and the opening of rights with OFII and the Family Allowance Fund (CAF).

The Prefect’s office and the Departmental Directorate for Employment, Labour and Solidarity were able to outline the emergency and long-term accommodation searches for displaced Ukrainians. The ARS explained in details the medical care offered for the management of somatic and psychological disorders of some people including a focus on the situation of children with significant autistic disorders.

The National Education services have also presented the data on children’s education.

The meeting was followed by the visit of an emergency accommodation centre receiving displaced people in the centre of Strasbourg and by discussions between the Consul and accommodated Ukrainians families.
