The OFII in action – The territorial directorate of Reims rallied up for the return and reintegration of migrants
The OFII territorial directorate in Reims was mobilised in December 2021 during a day devoted to assisting the return and reintegration of migrants in their country of origin, based on three major actions implemented by the French Office for Integration and Immigration (OFII).
Inauguration of the return preparation centre (DPAR)
The return preparation centre (DPAR) located in Vitry-le-François was inaugurated by Pierre N’Gahane, Prefect of Marne, in the presence of OFII representatives, Agnès Jolivet-Lequien, Acting Deputy Territorial Director, and Séverine Vicente, Asylum and Return Auditor, Jean-Pierre Bouquet, Mayor of Vitry-le-François, as well as the sub-prefect and the association Accueil Sans Frontières 67.
This return preparation centre, with a capacity of 74 places, was opened in September 2021 and accommodates around twenty candidates for voluntary return. Since the centre was opened, the OFII has been on duty twice a month.
Raising awareness on return and reintegration assistance for migrants in their country of origin
Four awareness-raising sessions on return and reintegration assistance were offered by the OFII territorial directorate in Reims to managers and social workers from accommodation centres for asylum seekers in Marne, Haute-Marne, Aube and Ardennes. These training sessions brought together 60 participants who were paying attention to the measures implemented by the OFII.
Positive collaboration between the Reims territorial directorate and the OFII representation in Mali to improve the reintegration of migrants in their country of origin
An information meeting on reintegration assistance was held by the Aube Prefecture, the OFII territorial directorate in Reims and the OFII representation in Mali. This meeting brought together 14 social workers and heads of service from the Aube departmental children’s centre, which is in charge of supporting unaccompanied minors (MNAs) in Aube.
The OFII presented the reintegration assistance through a presentation of the scheme by the Reims territorial directorate, video testimonies of successful reintegration and discussions with the OFII representation in Mali.
The attendees praised the positive support and quality work carried out by the OFII, its staff, territorial directorates and representations abroad in promoting the assistance for voluntary return as well as the social, professional and economic reintegration of migrants in their country of origin.
The day highlighted the constant mobilisation of the OFII for the return as well as the sustainable and effective reintegration of migrants in their country of origin.
