The OFII health appointment, why, for whom, where?

You are:

  • Asylum seeker newly arrived in France
  • Signatories of the Republican Integration Contract[1]

The OFII medical service offers you a health appointment (RVS)

The health appointment, what is it?

It is a medical visit with an OFII doctor to take stock of your health (and the health of your family if you are accompanied). This visit, which is not compulsory, is free of charge.

The medical visit with this doctor will allow you to discuss your health in order to identify any health problems. It will, if necessary, refer you to health professionals for care.

[1] You have been in France for less than 12 months, you do not speak French and do not have a secondary school diploma from your country of origin, you have not been under the care of a doctor since your arrival, and you have not yet had a medical examination at the OFII.

During this consultation, the doctor will suggest updating your vaccinations and screening tests for certain diseases.

Medical confidentiality is absolute. This means that your personal medical information is only given to you and no one else, not even your family (except for minor children (under 18)). If you do not speak French, an interpreter will be able to help you in this exchange.

After this consultation, you will be given:

  • the report of your Health Appointment in a confidential envelope
  • a letter to a GP or specialist if you need treatment
  • health information materials
