Support for Returning Senegalese: A Franco-Senegalese Collaboration for Reintegration
The OFII representation in Senegal hosted Mr. Amadou Chérif Diouf, Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad, who honored the occasion by co-chairing, alongside the OFII, the sixth annual funding committee for projects of Senegalese returning from France.
All Franco-Senegalese partners were present to approve 10 new reintegration projects: the DGASE (General Directorate for the Support of Senegalese Abroad), the Senegalese Employment Directorate, ANPEJ (National Agency for the Promotion of Youth Employment), IOM (International Organization for Migration), DER (Rapid Entrepreneurship Delegation), ADEPME (Agency for the Development and Supervision of Small and Medium Enterprises), as well as the French partners of the OFII such as AFD (French Development Agency), France Volontaires, and Campus France.
The approved projects included nine businesses created by Senegalese who returned from France and Morocco, in various sectors such as poultry farming, multiservice, catering, photography, sports, children’s items, hardware, dry cleaning, and food product sales. These projects include a variety of profiles ranging from volunteers to young professionals and students. With the support of the OFII and operators, the projects will be monitored for a period of 2 years.
The participation of Mr. Amadou Chérif Diouf, Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad, reflects the commitment of the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to adopt a national migration policy aimed at making reintegration an opportunity for local development. This policy supports returning Senegalese in their life projects and strengthens their entrepreneurial skills in Senegal.
This close collaboration with the Senegalese authorities will optimize the actions of the OFII and multiply opportunities for beneficiaries of reintegration aid.
Since the beginning of the year, a hundred reintegration projects in Senegal have been financed, contributing to the economic and social development of the country while providing returning migrants with the necessary means to build a stable and prosperous life in their home country.
