OFII in Mayotte, a territorial delegation fulfilling national missions
On 4 July, in the presence of the Prefect and the elected officials, the OFII General Director Didier Leschi cut the ribbon to officially mark the opening of the Territorial Delegation premises in Kaweni (Coralium area) and the implementation of the Republican Integration Contract.
Already present in Mayotte since 2015, OFII had only one agent in charge of processing family reunification applications until the end of 2021.
From 1st January 2022, following the efforts of Mr. Yacine Belguermi, the Territorial Director in Réunion, the team has grown significantly and now consists of 12 agents.
OFII establishment in Mayotte, being officially the 101st French department since 31 March 2011, focuses on two essential missions:
The integration process
– Firstly, the reception and integration of foreigners who have been allowed to reside in France. In this regard, the Republican Integration Contract (CIR) has been implemented in Mayotte in order to help signatories benefit from a civic and language training if necessary.
Voluntary return
– Secondly, the voluntary return of foreigners in an irregular situation as an alternative option to forced return.
Other procedures
The Mayotte delegation is also fulfilling other OFII missions such as processing family reunification and sick foreigner applications.
