OFII in Armenia: a joint visit with the Ambassador

Last June, OFII team travelled to regions of Syunik and Vayots Dzor in Armenia to stop by all economic reintegration projects implemented since 2019 in these two regions.

It was also an opportunity to join the French Ambassador to Armenia Anne Louyot during her visit to the Syunik region. The situation in this region remains very sensitive following the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In Kapan, capital of the Syunik region, the Ambassador inaugurated the bakery project of the two Grigoryan brothers, funded by OFII. Named “Boulangerie Nancy” in tribute to their host city during their stay in France. The bakery sells French delicacies to its customers. Both beneficiaries went to France in 2012 for health reasons and after spending 8 years in this country and finishing their treatment, they chose to return to their country.

The Ambassador noted the significance of the projects supported by OFII, as well as the importance of these supports for our beneficiaries regarding their sustainable reintegration in Armenia.

She was able to clearly assess the positive impact of OFII actions when directed to involved project leaders, closely supervised by committed local operators.

A meeting with the PIN service provider, in charge of the project set up, was scheduled in Goris, in the Syunik region.

Different issues were discussed during this meeting, including the work and involvement of the provider in regards to the OFII programmes in Armenia, as well as its broader intervention for displaced people following the most recent conflict.
