Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate for Citizenship visiting OFII

Defender of the values of freedom, equality and fraternity, Marlène Schiappa went on March 1 to the OFII’s directorate in Créteil, for a specific session of the institution.

Like the newly arrived immigrants invited to participate in a half-day introductory session, Marlène Schiappa attended the presentation of the Republican Integration Contract. This contract, which is concluded between the French state and the newcomer, represents the first step in the integration process in France.

The OFII representative presented the contents of the training courses included in the Republican Integration Contract and in particular the civic one. This course is about the history of France, its institutions, the rights and duties of every residents, the freedom of expression, the equality between men and women and the prohibition of any kind of discrimination.

The session was carried out in two stages, one collective and the second individual. Marlène Schiappa also observed the progress of a French test which determines the level of language training that requires the signatory. The Minister then took part in an interview with a refugee.

This half-day allowed participants to clearly identify the obligations and commitments when signing the Republican Integration Contract.
